Hans Zandvoort (1928–2013) was a Dutch-born artist whose work developed across more than five decades in the Netherlands, France, Senegal, the United States and Mexico.

After moving to Paris in 1956, he developed Spoutnik (Sputnik), an early body of work responding to the imagery of satellites and the emerging Space Race. His work subsequently moved toward abstraction in paintings he called Opposition, followed by his later exploration of anamorphosis and the relationship between painting, viewer and space.

“Each work I now make took more than 50 years to complete.”
